Our log cabins are ideal for accessing all areas of  The Lake District with Ambleside, Grasmere,  Langdale and Littlewater within a couple of miles of  the site and Lake Windermere, Lake Coniston,  Grisedale Forrest and Hawkshead just a short drive  away. There are numerous scenic walks straight off the site,  Loughrigg Tarn is  within 5 minutes walk as is the  river which flows beneath Skelwith Bridge and where  an extremely attractive scenic walk can be enjoyed  along the river bank to the well visited Britannia  Public House at Elterwater where an excellent  selection of award winning "Real Ales" can be  enjoyed prior to your retracing your steps back to  Skelwith Bridge. For Dog owners there is the extra attraction of taking  your "best friend" with you when you choose to enjoy  a quiet evening out. Most public houses welcome  well behaved dogs even when you choose to dine  out. Many shops also welcome dog owners into their  premises. Should your pet need attention while you are visiting  our Cabins there is an excellent Veterinary Practice  (Oak Hill Veterinary Group Church St, Windermere,  Cumbria, LA22 0BU Tel: 01539 488555) in  Windermere,  Skelwith Bridge Hotel "Talbot Bar" is within 5 minutes  walk of cabins and serves quality food at reasonable  prices, Wainwrights at Langdale offers a warm  welcome and serves excellent food as does The  Britannia Inn at Elterwater.   On a clear evening the night sky can be viewed from  the top of the site where the complete blackness  allows a spectacular view of the stars and  constellations. Any town dwellers who think they  know what the night sky looks like without having  viewed it from a location unspoilt by street lighting will  be in for a truly pleasant surprise! The children will  love it!!  There is a Spar supermarket at Ambleside, Co-op and Booths supermarkets in Windermere as well as Asda, Booths, Iceland and Morrisons in Kendal. Restaurants catering for virtually every style can be found just a couple of miles away in Ambleside.
